MIDDLETOWN, Pa., April 16, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A $1.4 million Cash 5 jackpot - the game's largest of the year, to date - is on the line tonight. Retailers statewide are reporting brisk ticket sales.

The Cash 5 jackpot has been rolling since one ticket sold in Allegheny County matched the five numbers drawn on April 8, winning a $325,000 jackpot.

"Coming just days after our Match 6 Lotto game awarded a more than $5 million prize, it's very exciting to see our Cash 5 jackpot reach such heights," said Lottery Executive Director Sil Lutkewitte. "We invite Pennsylvanians to have fun playing Cash 5 and ask them to please play responsibly."

The Cash 5 record jackpot remains a $1.9 million prize shared by two winning tickets sold in Lackawanna and Wayne counties for the Feb. 6, 2013, drawing.

Cash 5 has awarded 32 jackpot prizes since the first of the year. Cash 5 is drawn nightly during the Lottery's live drawing show at 6:59 p.m.

How to play Cash 5: To play Cash 5, players pay $1 and select five numbers from 1 to 43. Players may select their own numbers using a Cash 5 playslip, or they may opt for computer-selected quick picks. Players must match all five numbers drawn to win the jackpot. Players also win prizes for matching two, three or four winning numbers. Cash 5 drawings are held seven nights a week, and tickets can be purchased up to seven draws (one week) in advance. Odds of winning the jackpot prize are 1-in-962,598; the overall odds of winning any prize are about 1-in-10.5.
