Microgaming has developed several great branded slots and by branded we mean ones that are based on popular movies or comic book heroes etc. These games were only developed after Microgaming obtained the necessary licensing agreements to create their respective games.

The most famous branded online slot machines developed by microgaming over the past decade have included titles such as (in no particular order) Battlestar Galactica, Lara Croft Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider – Secret of the Sword (aka Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider 2), as well as Playboy, The Osbournes, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Hellboy and Hitman. These slots are all now widely available and you can play on them either in the real money mode or in the free play mode.

It all started way back in 2004 (October 25th to be more precise) when Microgaming launched its first in a series of Tomb Raider themed slots starring the hot female action character, Lara Croft. This slot has 5 reels and 15 winning paylines and it is enjoyed almost as much today as it was when it was first launched. This slot contains Wild Symbols and Scatter Symbols and you can win prizes from the Bonus Features and from the Free Spins Bonus Round.

It took a few more years before the next branded slot from Microgaming was released and this next one was The Osbournes, which is based on the Emmy Award-winning reality TV series which aired in 2005 and starred the legendary rock star, Ozzy Osbourne, and his family. This slot has 5 reels and 20 winning paylines and it has some really big prizes up for grabs.

“The developers at Microgaming have done a fantastic job at bringing all our family to life within the game and they’ve even managed to immortalise my beloved dog, Minnie! I’ll certainly have a little flutter when it’s launched,” said Sharon Osbourne at the time. These words came from the Microgaming website.

Hitman fever then arrived in late November 2007 when Microgaming launched a new branded slot called Hitman, which coincided with the release of the movie of the same name. This is a non-downloadable slot which has 5 reels and 15 winning paylines and it contains regular Wild Symbols, Scatter Symbols and Expanding Wild Symbols. You can also win prizes form within a Free Spins bonus round.

On January 12th 2010, Microgaming launched Hellboy, which was licensed from Dark Horse Comics. “At Microgaming we believe in coupling appropriate branded content with high-quality, original games. We continually introduce pioneering, state of the art games to our customers and Hellboy is no exception. We’re sure that players will enjoy the rich visuals and comic book style action, combined with Microgaming’s innovative game play. We are delighted to be announcing the launch of this iconic branded game,” said the Microgaming CEO, Roger Raatgever.

Two years later, on January 24th 2012, Microgaming announced that it had secured a licensing agreement with DC Entertainment to create both The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, which to this day are two of Microgaming’s most famous titles. Then, on October 16th of the same year, the software provider also announced that it had secured another new licensing agreement with NBC Universal for Battlestar Galactica. This slot was eventually launched in December 2012. The most recent branded slot from Microgaming was Playboy, which was launched in July 2013 and then in January 2014, Microgaming said that it has obtained a licensing agreement to develop an online slot based on Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
