The GUKPT enjoyed an incredible start to its 2013 tour at the world famous Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London. With a buy-in of £1000+£70, players flocked to the capital to grab a slice of the £200,000 Guaranteed prize pool. After the dust had settled, 397 players had entered, generating a staggering £397,000 prize pool.

Martin Bader and David Barraclough were the last men standing, making a deal for Bader to take home £56,000 and Barraclough £62,000 based on their chip counts. They carried on for the trophy and grand final seat with Bader coming out on top. Barraclough had qualified for the tournament by winning a £150 satellite on, making his winnings just that little more special.

Players are now looking forward to Leg 2 which is at the Grosvenor G Casino Didsbury from the 8th – 14th April, and will feature a £500 entry Main Event with a £50,000 Guaranteed prize pool.

Launched in 2007, the vision of the GUKPT has always been to offer the experience of big-time tournaments at various local casinos across the nation, with buy-ins and game types to suit all levels of poker player. A look back at past winners reveals many superstars from the UK poker scene, most of which cut their teeth on the tour. With deep structures and slow levels, it has become the standard proving ground for serious and amateur players alike.

In 2013 the GUKPT decided to solidify itself as the best poker tour in the UK by guaranteeing an incredible £1,750,000 over the year. What’s more, all the guarantees are unconditional, so you know exactly what you’re playing for.

Destinations for the 2013 tour include Manchester, Brighton, Luton, London and exciting new venues like the newly launched Grosvenor G Casino Reading. No matter where you are in the UK, they’ll be an event for you.

On top of the main tour, we have several other exciting events falling under the GUKPT banner. This includes the Goliath, which in 2011 broke the record for largest European poker tournament with 1,765 runners, and then smashed that number in 2012 with 1,954 runners.

Held at the Grosvenor G Casino Coventry from the 18th August – 25th August, the Goliath is a £100+£20 event aimed squarely at those looking to play something BIG. If you’ve ever wanted to feel what it’s like to play a large, multi-day, super deepstack tournament, but don’t want to break the bank, then the Goliath is for you.

Also in Coventry is the Student Championship, an event now in its 9th year. From 25th March – 28th March there are two events, a £100+£10 High roller tournament and the £30+£5 Main Event. If you’re still studying and want to prove you’re the best, mark this in your diary now.

There are also regional tournaments across the country, such as the 25/25 Series. These events have a 25 minute clock, a 25,000 starting stack and £25,000 guaranteed. The last event generated a £68,000 prize pool.
