Do Ferrari Have The Car to Win the 2011 Grand Prix?

Ferrari were the first team to reveal their new car for this year’s Grand Prix back in January this year. The Formula One rules have changed for this year’s race and so many of the teams have had to make adjustments to the cars to comply with the regulations and be allowed to drive in the races. The new rules will also mean that the drivers will have to change the way that they work.

The Ferrari car for the 2011 Australian Grand Prix is the F150, and it was unveiled on 28th January 2011 at the team’s Maranello factory. This year’s drivers have also been announced as Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa – and the pair took the red cloth off the car at the unveiling.

Last year, Ferrari didn’t manage to make the title for the 2010 Grand Prix which was held in Abu Dhabi but this year the team feels confident with their new car that they have a better chance of winning the Grand Prix. And the new F150 looks extremely smart too. It’s the usual Ferrari red and looks so sleek and aerodynamic.

A Peek At The New Williams 2011 Livery Unveiled at the 2011 Australian Grand Prix

Williams, the British Grand Prix team, have come up with a brand spanking new design for the FW33 which will be unveiled at the Australian Grand Prix this year. The regulations have changed for the 2011 Grand Prix in Australia meaning that many teams in Formula One have had to redesign their cars, but Williams in particular have made hot news with theirs.

The new car has been undergoing testing and has been showing itself as a very competitive new design. Although with the Grand Prix just a month away, the Williams team will have to finish their developments quickly in order to be ready in time.

The new 2011 regulations have included the Kinetic Energy Recovery to be reintroduced, as well as Pierlli tyres, a rear wing that is moveable and the F-duct and double diffuser being taken off. These regulations have forced the design teams to come up with new and innovative ways to get down-force on the cars as well as aerodynamics. Williams have paid a lot of attention to the back end of the new car and a smaller gearbox with new rear driveshafts.

Will Australian Grand Prix Boost Melbourne and Australia After Recent Issues with FIA?

The Australian Grand Prix is just under a month away, with the first practice runs and qualifiers to take place on March 24th. There will be further races on 25th and 26th before the main Grand Prix event which will run on Sunday 27th March. But it looks set to be under fire as many residents seem to complain regularly about the noise levels from the Grand Prix event in Melbourne every year. It has also come under question about how much the Grand Prix is costing.

In 1996 the Australian Grand Prix was only costing the Australian government £1.7 million Australian dollars, but the number of spectators appears to be dropping and the bill has increased to $50 million Australian dollars per year, so it is no longer feasible the local MPs have said.

A spokesperson said that it used to be a god idea when costs were lower, but it has become far too expensive to justify. And to add to the stress of the whole situation, local residents are complaining that the event is just too noisy and it disrupting their lives over the four day weekend event. They have also complained about access to roads around the track being blocked off.

Closing a Chapter on the 1980s, the 1990 Ferrari F40 Classic

The 1990 Ferrari F40 classic is not any ordinary sports car. Though it exhibits the same familiarities found in most sports cars, this model is widely known to have revolutionized the car-making industry and has often been touted as the catalyst for the future success of Scuderia Ferrari. The brainchild of Enzo Ferrari before his death in 1988, this supercar is known for its aerodynamics design which was then underutilised in the car industry.

At first glance, the F40 is like any other sports car during its generation; a Berlinetta with a really loud engine. However, the design itself is not for eyes only; it combines the use of lightweight materials and aerodynamics to enhance its performance.
 
Pirinfarina, a car design firm and long time collaborator of Ferrari was enlisted to design the build. The key was to make the supercar as lightweight as possible so Pirinfarina used Kevlar and steel for the chassis; carbon fibre and aluminium to make the body of the vehicle. These composite materials are really strong yet lightweight.

The Icon of the 60s: 1970 Lamborghini Miura Classic

Back in the 1960s, the sports car industry in Italy was monopolized by supercar giants like Ferrari and Maserati. Ferruccio Lamborghini entered the industry in 1963 specializing in the same type of sports car produced by Ferrari; the grand touring race cars. As much as he adored Ferraris, he disliked the fact that the sport cars were built for competition purposes and he would like to build sports cars suitable for normal road users.

Ferruccio finally hit the jackpot with his 1966 creation, the Lamborghini Miura. It was the sports car that defined the success of the company for years to come. Debuting into the market with only an engine on the rolling chassis, the mid-engine prototype P400 left many spectators at the 1965 Turin Salon Auto Show in awe.

The story of how the name Miura came about to represent this impressive sports car is also an intriguing piece. Ferruccio Lamborghini, a Taurus himself, was so taken by the strong and fierce nature of the Miura fighting bull at a ranch that he decided to name the model and placed the bull as the emblem for Lamborghini.

At the 1966 Geneva Motor Show the Ferrari 330 GTC was first unveiled to an eager audience who were keen to see the new car that Ferrari had produced. The car was intended to fit between production of the Ferrari 275 GTB and the Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 models which had been made in the previous and consecutive years. The 330 GTC mixed fantastic handling with a 4 litre engine, the classic looks of the 275 and a chassis that was suspended.

One of the reasons that this classic car handled so well was down to its rear suspension, which was initially introduced on the Ferrari 275 GTB. The gearbox was now in the suspension at the rear of the car via a transaxle which gave the 330 GTC even more power than previous models. This meant that individuals who were looking for a powerful and responsive car found it in the Ferrari 330 GTC.

The top speed of the classic 1968 Ferrari GTC was 150 miles per hour and it took just 6.9 seconds for the car to go from 0 -60 miles per hour. As shown this car was superfast and it was a definite pleaser for car fans who wanted to have plenty of power behind them while they were in the driver’s seat. In fact to show just how fast this car accelerated it took just 16.7 seconds for the car to go from 0 -100 miles per hour.

The 250 GT Berlinetta SWB - A Review

A classic in its own right, the 1959 Ferrari 250 GT SWB is widely renowned for being one of the best sports cars of its time. With its sleek design, exclusivity factor and great historical background, it’s no wonder that Motor Trend Classic magazine awarded it fifth place in their list of top ten "Greatest Ferraris of all Time" feature. But what do we really know about this automobile?

It was first unveiled in October of 1959 at the famous Paris Motor Show. Disk brakes and a short wheelbase (SWB) were a first in the GT series, and the combination of low weight, high power, and well-sorted suspension made for quite an impressive package.

The top speed was around 152 mph, while 0-60 mph could be done in 6.2 seconds. Both figures were seen as the best of that time, and had caused quite a bit of excitement amongst the racing community.The car was also highly reliable, easy to drive and considered to be incredibly good-looking. It was a natural on the race-track as well as on the road. Since then, road cars and race cars have differentiated into two separate paths.

World's Fastest Cars - Audi R8Audi, as part of the Volkswagen Group, wasn’t always known for their sports cars. Most Audis are sleek, stylish and fast, but they never really stacked up against legitimate sports cars like models from Ferrari and Porsche. All of this changed in 2006 with Audi’s introduction of the R8 V10 road car.
 
The R8 V10 road car wasn’t exactly a new design idea by Audi. In fact, the R8 was nearly a decade old by the time Audi decided it should be produced for basic road ownership. There were two models of Audi R8 built in 1999 for the 24-hour Le Mans, the R8R and R8C. There was also the Audi R8 racecar built in 2000, and there’s an Audi R8 Le Mans Concept 12-cylinder diesel in the works.

Audi announced its plans to transform the R8 into a V10 road car in 2005 and had planned on it being available by 2007. The idea was to create something unique and original while not completely abandoning the R8 concept that made Audi’s racecars so successful. The production went to one of Audi’s subsidiaries, quattro GmbH.

A Review Of The 2010 Australian Grand PrixThe 2010 Australian Grand Prix was the second race of the F1 season and was held on March 28 in Melbourne, Australia at the famed Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit. Before the Grand Prix became part of the World Championship circuit, drivers still raced courses at different venues throughout Australia. The race became permanent in 1985 and moved to Melbourne in 1996.

The qualifying round was held the day before the race itself and Sebastian Vettel, driving for Red Bull-Renault, won pole position with an impressive lap time of 1:23. Due to wet conditions during the remainder of the weekend, no driver during the race was able to beat this time.

Race day started off slowly. Due to rainy weather, the track was declared “wet” and drivers first had to change their tires before the racing started. With intermediate tires on their fast cars, the F1 drivers were having control problems from the onset. Eventual winner Jenson Button tangled up with Fernando Alonso in the first turn. Schumacher’s car was also damaged in the incident.

Luxurious Cars - The Ferrari 458 ItaliaThe Italian-made Ferrari has been one of the biggest-selling sports cars of all time. Not only do the cars look sleek and stylish and like something you’d see in the sky as opposed to on the ground, but they’re also extremely well built, lightning fast and rugged enough to hold up to the rigors of prolonged high performance. One of the newest Ferrari’s is the 458 Italia.

The 458 Italia came along to replace the Ferrari F430. Not that the F430 was obsolete or a lesser car by any stretch of the imagination. It’s just common practice with a lot of automakers to bring in the new to get out with the old.

Unlike Ferrari models of the past, this new design wasn’t really based on any old design of street model car, per se. Instead, Ferrari used their experience with Formula 1 racing and new technologies and designs to piece together the 458. The results speak for themselves.

Legends of Formula 1 - Gilles Villeneuve

Legends of Formula 1 - Gilles VilleneuveJoseph Gilles Henri Villeneuve is perhaps one of the more unheralded Formula 1 drivers of his generation. The Canadian-born racer’s career was much shorter than other legends of the sport, but in his 68 career races (67 career starts), Villeneuve won 6 of them, finishing on 13 podiums, amassing over 100 career points and earning 2 poles.

His name isn’t mentioned much in the “winner” discussion due to the fact that Villeneuve never won an F1 Championship, but his 2nd place finish in 1979 alerted the racing world of the presence of a serious contender. Villeneuve’s career wasn’t cut short due to poor performance or a lack of love for the sport. He died after an on-track accident in 1982, making him one of the many tragic causalities of this fast-paced sport.

Gilles Villeneuve was born January 18, 1950 in Berthierville, Quebec, Canada. In his younger years, Gilles raced snowmobiles and was always interested in the sport. Eventually, Gilles found his niche in the single-seat style of formula racing, and he quickly won the US and Canadian Formula Atlantic championships in 1976. Soon after, the McLaren team of Formula One came knocking at his door, and Gilles was suited up and ready to go at the British Grand Prix in 1977.

World's Luxurious Sports Cars - Porsche Carrera GT

It's common practice for a well-known sports car manufacturer to take the leap and attempt to release the ultimate supercar. All the big names have done it: Lamborghini, Ferrari, Mercedes, and in 2004, Porsche did it too with their Carrera GT. Porsche's version of a supercar is a long time in the making.

They went completely outside of their comfort zone and delivered an automobile that has the body style of a Ferrari but offers the reliable performance that clearly screams Porsche. Through two years until 2006, the company produced 1,270 of these cars. Its predecessor was the GT1 - a supercar in it's own right, although built strictly for racing.

Porsche's supercar is a bit contradictory. For starters, they used some serious state-of-the-art technology in a lot of aspects of the automobile; however, in other aspects, the Carrera GT operates much like a standard Porsche.

Biography of Juan Manuel Fangio Formula 1 Driver

Juan Manuel Fangio was born on June 24, 1911 in Balcarce, Argentina. He is perhaps one of Formula 1 Racing's most successful drivers. His 6 years of racing are perhaps the most dominant of any driver to ever sit behind the wheel of a single-seater. His F1 career spanned from 1950 to 1958.

In this short timeframe, Fangio raced with Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Mercedes, and Ferrari. He participated in 51 races, winning 24 of them; also securing 35 podium finishes, 29 Pole Positions, and 23 fastest laps. Although Fangio was a racer before the sport was popular in the mainstream, his legend lives on to this day.

Fangio spent time in the military, as did most young men of the era, and opened a small garage after his service was up. He went on to race in small local events, up and down the rough and rugged dirt roads of South America.

If you've ever laid eyes on the Wallypower Superyacht, then you've probably thought the government created a stealth-like boat in their secret labs and you would subsequently be blindfolded and ultimately disposed of for witnessing the floating fortress.

Relax. This isn't the case all; you're totally safe. The Wally is a sleek, futuristic yacht straight out of a science-fiction movie, but it's non-lethal. Everything about this yacht screams out cool and original. The 118-foot, Italian designed sea-beast blows contemporary yachts out of the water with its amazing speed as well.

Most yachts barely pick up enough speed to cause the water to ripple, but Wally chugs along at over 110 kilometers per hour (68.3mph).

The reason for its shape is simple: performance. Wally was built to travel at blazing fast speeds, all while keeping its guests aboard draped in luxury. The radical styling of the yacht was tested at Ferrari's wind tunnel to ensure it would break the waves.

The Wally is equipped with three 5,600 horsepower gas turbines that are designed similarly to a jet fighter plane. Air inlets on either side of the boat effectively funnel air into the engines, thus allowing for faster revolutions and ultimate power output. It can travel at top speed for over 400 nautical miles. Wally comes in different models with price tags of $26-million and $20-million for two-engine models.
