32Red Casino Gets a New Look
casino blog
15 April 2015

32Red recently had a website redesign. No drastic changes have been made and you can still tell that it’s the same casino underneath its new exterior. The operator of this casino has toned down on the amount of red that used to over-power the old website, but they have still kept their trademark colour which you can see towards the top of the homepage, where the main navigation bar is.

Some of you will have already noticed the changes by now, which occurred in March 2015. The layout does seem slightly more user-friendly than before and the new-looking website also appears to be less cluttered than before. The same great products still exist here and the casino is still controlled by the same trusted operator, 32Red Plc. In addition to the 32Red Online Casino, you can also find a Games Arcade, Mobile Casino, Live Casino, Poker, Online Bingo and Online Sports Betting.

2014 November Nine has Six Nationalilities
casino blog
02 August 2014

On July 15, the 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event finally reached its November Nine, after 10 long days of play.  The multinational group of players will return to the Rio Hotel and Casino on November 10 to compete for a $10 million first prize.

This year's November Nine features a very diverse group of players, hailing from six different countries.  They include a Dutchman, a Norwegian, four Americans, a Spaniard, a Swede, and a Brazilian.  This is the first time a Brazilian has ever made it to the Main Event final table.

Another interesting first this year:  American Mark Newhouse has become the first player to repeat as a November Niner since the format was introduced in 2009.  He defied incredible odds of about 500,000 to 1 (assuming all players are equally skilled) in order to accomplish this feat!  Referring to his early exit in last year's November Nine, Newhouse jokingly said on the Poker Edge podcast, "I'm looking forward to not finishing ninth."

What Kind of Online Gambler are you?

Poker Player
Your straight faced saloon-slinger goes straight to the poker room to look for their last card on the river. People with a bad poker face can still manage with online rooms and it’s so easy to find a new room if you don’t like who you’re playing with.

Lottery Player
You fell out with your work syndicate and can’t be bothered to stop off and get a ticket on the way home so you found the easiest way was online. The thing to be cautious of here is that, when you can’t see the money you spend, it’s easier to get rid of it. The temptation is there to buy five tickets instead of one, and that might not be the best option for your pocket… unless you win, of course.

Top Online Gaming Experiences for iPad Users
casino blog
29 April 2013

In theory, the iPad should be perfect for playing online casino games. The touchscreen interface is perfectly suited to making intuitive movements like pressing slot machine buttons or moving chips around a layout, and its shape and portability make it comfortable to use in almost any situation. Unfortunately, Apple’s on-going and slightly childish spat with Adobe means that their devices are incompatible with websites that use the latter’s Flash Player - which also happens to be the de facto standard for interactive online casino gaming. But fear not, brave casino gamers, as there are plenty of online casinos that have adapted their online offerings for the iPad gamer - here are what we humbly consider to be the best versions of poker, slots, roulette, and blackjack for Apple’s wonder-slab.

3 Card Poker - Is Lady Luck on Your Side?
casino blog
27 March 2013

The game of 3 card poker is not one that is played often in casinos, and you may be forgiven for not having every heard of it. However, this does not mean that the game should be dismissed. In fact, it may be one of the most exciting games you ever play at a casino.

In this game, the player must make a bet after which the dealer deals three cards each both to the player and himself. In this game though, the player does not have extra cards from which they can try to get a flush, a straight or even a royal flush. This game involves just the player, the dealer and six cards. If the player folds at this point, he or she forfeits their whole bet and the hand is over. If they choose to keep playing, they will have to raise their bet, essentially putting more money into the pot to be won.

How to Get Started Playing Online Poker Tournaments
casino blog
18 February 2013

Whether you've played some poker with your friends and family or are a complete newbie, if you're interested in online poker, you probably want to know what tournaments are all about. The reason that tournaments are the form of poker that gets the most attention in the media is because they have the highest payout.

Even if you're not in a multi-million dollar tournament like the World Series of Poker, daily tournaments still offer the opportunity to win hundreds or even thousands of dollars. The other big reason why tournaments are so popular is it gives you the opportunity to win these prizes without gambling huge amounts of your own money. Unlike playing against the house, you're not staking your own money on every hand.

Instead, you pay a flat amount to buy into a tournament. This buy-in can be as little as $5 or $10 for a daily tournament. Additionally, it's possible to earn a free buy-in to larger tournaments by first winning or simply doing well in smaller "satellite" tournaments. However, before you start worrying about all those details, you likely just want to get the basics of online tournaments covered.

Poker Stars and Wynn Resorts Merge
casino blog
08 October 2012

Towards the end of August 2012, it was announced that two major companies (who currently offer poker services to a combined total of more than 40 million people worldwide) have successfully formed an alliance in an attempt to help pave the way for a legal and regulated online poker industry in the US.

Both PokerStars and Wynn Resorts have merged and they are basically now hoping for a bill to be passed that will lead to online poker in the US becoming a legal industry.

PokerStars is a company which is often recognised as one of the true giants of internet poker in the US, Europe and beyond, and Wynn Resorts is a multi-million dollar Nevada-based company that develops high end land based casinos and hotels.

A similar merger has also occurred between 888 Holdings Plc and Caesars Entertainment and the main reason behind these mergers is that these companies in question are simply preparing for a day when online poker in the US does become legal. Many believe this is inevitable and that it will become a reality sooner rather than later. These companies will instantly become the main driving forces if (and when) legislation is passed.

A history of online poker and how it began
casino blog
28 September 2012

Poker first became available online towards the mid-1990s and since its inception it has had a colourful history. Before there was poker as we know it today, there was a time when IRC Poker ruled the virtual world. This was basically a game that was played through a chat client and similar to chess, players had to key in their moves and then leave the program to perform the actions for them.

Players weren’t sat around animated tables like they are today and there were basically no in-play features. This was at a time when poker was in its most primitive form. It was still just as popular as it is today though and it soon became apparent how many people actually enjoyed the game and desired to play it online, but there were still very few portals to play at.

Online poker (as it looks today) was born in 1998 and even some of the oldest companies are still around today such as PokerStars, but many of them have resigned themselves to the history books for various reasons.

Where do Online Poker Sharks tend to Play
casino blog
22 June 2012

If you’re just starting out with online poker then you perhaps have heard about poker sharks. These are the people who like to take your money and they can do this quite easily. The question is, “how do you avoid the sharks?”

The simple answer is that you can’t, you just have to shape up and learn the game because this threat is unavoidable. This is why certain players were so aptly named – Sharks (pros) and Fish (amateurs).

You would think that sharks would play on the high stakes tables winning $100’s per pot, but contrary to popular belief, many of these professional sharks tend to frequent the lower stakes tables in order to take the money from the fish, like taking candy from kids.

What has happened since Black Friday - America's Darkest Day for Online Poker?
casino blog
13 June 2012

More than 12 months have passed since online poker’s darkest day occurred in America. This section takes a brief look at what has happened since congress decided to make gambling online illegal and reveals what has actually happened since April of 2011.

Three of the founders of the world’s leading online poker sites such as Full Tilt poker were indicted by the US Department of Justice (D.O.J) and the F.B.I froze billions of dollars’ worth of player’s money. This happened overnight and left most players and operators in a state of shock. It was no longer legal for players to play in the real cash mode, or for these operators to process transactions with online payment companies or other banking institutions.

The online gambling companies were officially charged with serious offences. These offences included money laundering, illegal gambling and even bank fraud. This new act was called the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) and meant that players basically had no legal US based gambling portals to play at anymore and many other major offshore operators also pulled out of the US market altogether.

This one also stars John Tuturro.

If there are three poker movies that everyone should see at one point in their life, these are the ones. Each one has a completely different plot but all revolve around the world’s most loved card game, Texas Hold’em. These movies are often underrated and certainly deserve more recognition.

The State of Online Gambling on Mobile Devices
casino blog
14 November 2011

The current state of online gambling using a mobile device with regards to the services and technology seems to just keep on improving at an exponential rate and is becoming more and more popular. The innovative apps and unbelievably high tech mobiles that are currently available have led to a sharp rise in players now playing ‘on-the-go’.

How do Online Casinos get Good Reputations and what makes them Trustworthy?
casino blog
11 November 2011

Online casinos can acquire a solid reputation for several different reasons. There are many casinos that are still around today since the first online casino was launched in the mid 90’s, but many of the weaker ones no longer exist. The UK saw a boom in online casinos that stemmed from major high street bookies, so players who already knew the operator instantly trusted their new online ventures, which gave these casinos a huge advantage in gathering new players.

Casinos that have been around for longer generally have a better reputation compared with recently launched casinos, because of their impeccable track record regarding customer service, payouts, security and overall integrity, as well as the countless reviews that show them in a good light. It’s impossible for a new casino to instantly gain a good reputation, unless they happen to be owned by an already trusted and responsible operator.

At What Point do you start to Question an Online Casinos Random Number Generator?
casino blog
07 November 2011

Most of the Random Number Generators that exist today have been carefully scrutinised and are constantly tested by a number of independent auditors. Although the outcome of a game is determined by an RNG, mathematically speaking, the results are just as random online as they are at land based casinos that have physical roulette wheels and dice tables with actual dealers.

The worst thing that a player can experience is a faulty Random Number Generator (RNG) when playing their favourite game online. Many people say that the games online are fixed, or rigged in some way to favour the house, but this is not true. However, this could be said of a rogue operator who is purposely out to scam people. These minority online casinos are very few and far between, but they do operate. Some players do occasionally get caught out and lose money at these casinos. This could be down to the RNG’s that have been used and manipulated to give less than fair outcomes.

Remember that the house always wins so just because you may have had a few straight losses in a row, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the online casinos RNG should be put under the spot light or questioned in any way. This is just down to both bad luck AND realistic outcomes. If you were to have 10 straight wins in a row, would you question the RNG?
