Can Online Casinos be Trusted?
casino blog
06 July 2015

The vast majority of online casinos can be trusted, but you also have to be aware that there are some ruthless operators out there who are only out to earn a quick buck out of players and scam you out of your hard-earned money. Fortunately though there are very few rogue online casinos out there, but they do exist to just be careful. ONLY ever sign up to an online casino that is licensed by a trusted authority which operates from within a recognised online gambling licensing jurisdiction.

Earn Quadruple Loyalty Points Each Week at Roxy Palace Casino
casino blog
22 June 2015

Roxy Palace Casino is one of a few remaining online casinos that welcomes UK players and is powered entirely by downloadable and non-downloadable Microgaming software. Since new online gaming legislation came into effect in the UK back in November 2014, very few Microgaming casinos have managed to obtain a license from the UK Gambling Commission and therefore cannot welcome UK players. Two of the other great Microgaming casinos that do still welcome UK players (and are licensed in the UK) include Betway Casino and 32Red Casino.

What are the best Net Entertainment Casinos for UK Players
casino blog
20 March 2015

Fortunately for UK players today, the majority of top-rated UK gambling portals do now have a selection of NetEnt games available, but up until a few years ago there were only around half as many NetEnt powered casinos available for UK players compared to the amount that are available today, in 2015. NetEnt software continues to win industry awards, the company’s technology is constantly evolving and you can now find NetEnt software in nearly 200 individual UK gambling portals.

NetEnt (or Net Entertainment as it is officially known) is a Swedish based online casino software provider and their games can now be found in a growing number of top UK gambling portals, but you will find that very few of these gambling portals are powered entirely by NetEnt software. Many of these sites are also powered by companies like Bally Technologies, IGT Interactive, Microgaming (Quickfire), Yggdrasil Gaming, Genesis Gaming, NYX Gaming, Ash Gaming (a Playtech company), Thunderkick, Quickspin, Amaya and Play’n GO, and possibly by one or two other providers as well like OpenBet, Freemantle, Electracade, Barcrest and Mazooma Interactive Games.

What are the Best Microgaming Casinos for UK Players
casino blog
18 March 2015

The number of Microgaming casinos accessible to UK players was dramatically reduced after new UK online gaming legislation was introduced to towards the end of 2014. Prior to this new legislation, UK players could visit hundreds of different Microgaming powered casinos and these gambling portals were licensed in one of several major jurisdictions around the world. To visit an online casino today, it also needs to be licensed by the UK Gambling Commission.

Unfortunately not all operators wanted to comply with the new legislation and this meant that they would avoid paying huge taxes each year, but it also meant that these operators would not be able to aim their business towards the UK market. In February 2015, there are hundreds of Microgaming casinos that are no longer accepting real cash wagers from UK players which previously did. Some of the operators of these casinos have applied for UK licenses, but others have not applied and are probably not likely to.

Which Microgaming Casinos Still Accept UK Players?
casino blog
28 February 2015

Right up until the end of 2014 when new gaming legislation came into effect in the United Kingdom, the online gambling laws in the UK were fairly liberal and there were lots of Microgaming casinos available. However, this all changed in December 2014 and almost overnight the number of Microgaming powered casinos that used to be available to UK players were no longer available. Microgaming software can be found in more than 440 different gambling portals around the world and at the time of writing approximately 230+ of these do still accept real cash wagers from UK players.

The casinos that didn’t already have a license from the UK Gambling Commission now had to obtain one if they wanted to continue offering their services to UK players. Many operators did not want to pay the huge taxes levied by the government and so chose not to obtain a licence. On the other hand, some of these operators have now applied for a new UK Gambling Commission license, but in the meantime these casinos still cannot accept real cash wagers from UK players. As soon as we do see more successful applicants obtaining licenses, even more Microgaming casinos should start becoming available to UK players as we move deeper into 2015.

Which Playtech Casinos Still Accept UK Players?
casino blog
27 February 2015

Due to new changes in online gaming legislation in the United Kingdom in September 2014, UK players are now required to play in their own territory when gambling in the real cash mode at an online casino. Some operators chose not to become fully compliant with the new legislation and did NOT obtain a license from the UK gambling Commission.

Therefore almost overnight, several famous UK Playtech powered casinos simply stopped accepting real cash wagers from UK players and this resulted in fewer Playtech casinos being available for UK players. Registered UK members of these casinos were notified of the changes that were about to come into effect via email, plus they were also informed by the casino when they signed into their account. In the case where an operator did not have a UK licensed sister casino that they could transfer player’s accounts over to, the operator simply lost that player’s business altogether.

Which Net Entertainment Casinos Still Accept UK Players?
casino blog
25 February 2015

Fortunately for UK players, Net Entertainment software and the vast majority of the best NetEnt powered casinos have always been licensed in the United Kingdom, by the UK Gambling Commission (well at least since the UK Gambling Commission was set up under the Gambling Act 2005). In other words, there are just as many NetEnt casinos available for UK players today, if not more, compared to the number that were available before new UK online gaming legislation came into effect towards the end of 2014.

In other words, you can still play at pretty much the same casinos as before. You will usually find that most UK online casinos are not even powered ENTIRELY by Net Entertainment (aka NetEnt). The casinos where you can find NetEnt games are generally known as cross-platform gambling portals which boast multiple gambling products and are powered by multiple software providers.

Why Does 'Spin Casino' Keep Popping Up When Visiting Certain Microgaming Casinos?
casino blog
13 February 2015

Since new online gaming legislation came into effect in the UK towards the end of 2014, many of you will have noticed that when visiting certain online casinos from a UK IP address such as Royal Vegas Casino, Spin Palace and All Slots Casino (to mention just a few), that an instant popup message will appear, recommending you to visit another Microgaming powered casino called Spin Casino (not Spin ‘Palace’ Casino).

The reason for this is because the operators of these casinos can no longer accept real cash wagers from UK players and therefore they must be affiliated with Spin Casino in some way, otherwise they wouldn’t be recommending them. If you click on the ‘Play Now’ button, you will be redirected to Spin Casino, which is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission and IS therefore complaint with the new legislation. From there you can install the Microgaming download client onto your computer.

William Hill Exits China
casino blog
09 October 2013

The leading UK gambling operator William Hill PLC has decided to withdraw all of its gambling services from the Chinese market. The withdrawal from China came into instant effect as of Monday 19th August 2013 and it will affect hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of online gamblers in China.

Affiliates of William Hill bookmakers were recently sent vague details via email which simply stated that the decision was due to ‘regulatory reasons beyond our control’. Online gamblers in China will no longer be able take advantage of the services offered by William Hill, but for those who still have a positive balance in their account, they can still make arrangements to withdraw their funds.
